To all of my friends that went to Church today I want challenge you with something.
The original meaning of “Church” does not mean a building to go to or attend.
The original meaning of “Church” comes from the Greek word “ekklesia” which literally means, “the called out ones”.
We are called out into the world to shine light where there is darkness.
We are called out to our homes to develop love and respect with our families.
We are called out to our place of work and schools to show love and kindness.
We are the called out ones. Always remember, never forget, we don’t just go to Church…
We ARE the Church.
Let us show up in our world as the hands and feet of Jesus. Our world desperately needs us to be the Church.
Not hateful or judging but loving and speaking the truth in love.
“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.”
Acts 4:32-35 NIV
Thats the Church. When someone asks you, “Hey, what Church do you go to?”
You can say, “I go the Church over there on the corner.”
In reality we can say with all courage and straightforwardness, “I am the church! I am a called out one to go and show the love of Jesus to my generation.”
The Church has left the house!
