A four year old girl noticed the rest of her family’s frustration throughout one December day as they made preparations for Christmas. She observed her mother’s sigh when they received an unexpected present in the mail and heard her mother’s response, “Now, we will have to go out and buy them something in return. Where will be find the time?” Her father was frustrated over all the mail, including the email cards from semi close friends.
A tradition of the family was to pray the Lord’s Prayer each night before bed. As little four year olds often get their words mixed up, her words changed a little for that evening’s prayer – unintentionally, of course, but yet so convicting. Instead of “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver from evil,” she prayed, “Forgive us our Christmases as we forgive those who Christmas against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from email.”
Remember, Christmas is not just December 25th. It is everyday! Let’s learn to enjoy the journey, love and laugh and live life to the fullest. God is sooooo good!
Keep the faith,
